(in France) Lyon, one of France's largest and oldest cities, is reputed to be the gourmet capital of France. It's large historic center, Le Vieux Lyon, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and features the largest ensemble of Renaissance buildings in Europe. Lyon also has a new museum, the Confluences museum, which is a museum of science and anthropology, with lots of interactive exhibits.
Lyon is the main city on the road and rail routes between Paris and the south of France, Paris and the Alps and Italy, and northern Europe and Spain.
